By Decree No. 2105 of the Government of Georgia, dated 14 November 2022, the agreement between the Government of Georgia, JSC "Electricity System Commercial Operator" and LLC "Nakhiduri HPP" was approved. On its basis, on 1 December 2022, an implementation agreement was signed between the Government of Georgia (Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development), JSC "Electricity System Commercial Operator" and LLC "Nakhiduri HPP" - its purpose being the implementation (construction, ownership and operation) of the Nakhiduri HPP hydroelectric plant by the company, in accordance with Georgian legislation and the terms set out in the agreement.
LLC "Nakhiduri HPP" is delivering the construction and operation project of a 7.2 MW installed-capacity derivation-type hydroelectric plant (Nakhiduri HPP) on the Khrami river, in the Bolnisi municipality.
Project Foundation
On 14 November 2022, the Nakhiduri HPP project was approved by a decree of the Government of Georgia. On 1 December, an implementation agreement was signed between the Government of Georgia, JSC "Electricity System Commercial Operator" and LLC "Nakhiduri HPP".
Construction Begins
Construction of a 7.2 MW derivation-type hydroelectric plant began in the Bolnisi municipality, on the Khrami river near the village of Nakhiduri. The project is delivered with the support of Bank of Georgia — total investment: USD 16 million.
Core Infrastructure
Work is under way on the project's foundational elements — an 18-meter-high spillway dam, the headworks, a fish pass, and the pressure pipeline. The headworks are located at 445 meters above sea level.
Completion Stage
Final stages of the above-ground powerhouse, tailrace channel and daily regulation system are being completed. The project's 30-month construction cycle is approaching its end.
Launch & Operation
Nakhiduri HPP enters operation and begins generating 51 million kWh of electricity per year. As a regulating hydroelectric plant, it makes a unique contribution to the stability of Georgia's energy system.
