LLC "Nakhiduri HPP"

A 7.2 MW installed-capacity derivation-type hydroelectric plant on the Khrami river, in the Bolnisi municipality.

By Decree No. 2105 of the Government of Georgia, dated 14 November 2022, the agreement between the Government of Georgia, JSC "Electricity System Commercial Operator" and LLC "Nakhiduri HPP" was approved. On the basis of this decree, on 1 December 2022 an Implementation Agreement was signed between the Government of Georgia (Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development), JSC "Electricity System Commercial Operator" and LLC "Nakhiduri HPP". The purpose of the agreement is the implementation — construction, ownership and operation — of the Nakhiduri HPP hydroelectric plant by the Company, in accordance with the legislation of Georgia and the terms set out in the agreement.

LLC "Nakhiduri HPP" is delivering a 7.2 MW installed-capacity derivation-type hydroelectric plant (Nakhiduri HPP) on the Khrami river, on the border between the Bolnisi and Tetritskaro municipalities, near the village of Nakhiduri. The left bank of the Khrami falls within Tetritskaro municipality, while the right bank lies within Bolnisi municipality. The project comprises a headworks structure, a fish pass, a pressure pipeline, an above-ground powerhouse and a tailrace channel. The plant is designed for daily-cycle regulation. The intake is positioned at an elevation of 445 m above sea level and includes an 18 m high spillway dam. The plant will generate 51 million kWh per year; construction lasts 30 months; the total project investment amounts to USD 16 million. The project is being delivered with the support of Bank of Georgia.

Completion and commissioning of the facility is planned for 2026. Unlike most ongoing energy projects in Georgia, Nakhiduri HPP is a regulating-type plant — which we believe makes it particularly necessary and important for the country's energy system.
