Electricity generation in Georgia
In June 2026, electricity generation in Georgia decreased by 16.3% annually and amounted to 1,124 GWh, - this is stated in the market review of "TBC Capital". According to the study, the generation of both hydroelectric power plants, thermal power plants and wind power plants decreased. In particular, the generation by source in June was as follows: hydro - 1,114 GWh (-16.1% y/y); thermal generation - 1.7 GWh (-71.5% y/y); wind - 6.4 GWh (-28.7% y/y); solar - 1.3 GWh.
It is noteworthy that in the first half of 2026, electricity generation in Georgia decreased by a total of 2.3%. "The main reason for the decrease was limited generation in the May-June period due to dispatcher demand, as electricity exports from Georgia decreased sharply due to low prices in Turkey."
In June 2026, the weighted average price of balancing electricity was 5.33 US cents per kilowatt-hour, which is 2.0% higher than the data for June 2025.
