The government has removed the pro-energy GREDA bill from the plan of laws to be adopted in the fall session.

The government has included the pro-energy GREDA bill in the list of laws to be adopted in the spring session of parliament, but has removed it from the plan of legislative acts to be discussed and approved in the fall session.

This is a draft law prepared at the initiative of the Georgian Renewable Energy Association (GREDA) and in cooperation with the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, which determines how the benefits from renewable energy projects (solar, wind, hydro) should be shared between the investor, the local municipality and the settlement where the power plant is being built. The aim of the draft law is to promote the sustainable development of renewable energy projects.

The fact is that the short-term plan of the government's legislative activities for the spring session of the parliament, which was submitted to the parliament in February of this year, included a draft law "On the distribution of long-term benefits arising from renewable energy projects to settlements", however, the highest legislative body completed its work in such a way that the government (Ministry of Economy) did not submit the draft law to the parliament and, accordingly, it was not adopted.

As for the short-term plan of the parliament's activities during the autumn session, the GREDA draft law is no longer on the list at all.
